I'm fundraising for Prevent Breast Cancer
My amazing wife Emma was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2026 aged 33.
Em felt a lump in the shower and was at the doctors first thing the next morning, and the next day was seeing the consultant and having a biopsy at The Spire, Manchester.
This came as a huge shock to us, even more so as at this time we were in and out of appointments at hospitals trying to get to the bottom of why we were having recurrent miscarriages, after suffering three miscarriages in the 18 months before that.
We feel very lucky to have our beautiful 6 year old daughter Ella, who throughout all this has kept us going with her innocence, laughter and smiles everyday.
Em had mastectomy surgery on 30th March 2026 at The Spire which was a success thanks to the amazing consultant and nurses. The recovery has been huge but Em is progressing everyday.
Em is now faced with one of her biggest challenges yet as we were told based upon testing that she will need 16 rounds of chemotherapy over the next 6 months at the Christie. This started on 10th June 2026.
My aim, with the support of others, is to
Complete “16 for 16”.
16 challenges for each of Em’s 16 rounds of chemotherapy to raise money and awareness for Prevent Breast Cancer.
The first challenge will be the Stockport 10k in July - starting close to home.
I spend a lot of my time in the gym at RISE in Cheadle Hulme. The next challenge in August will be all 5 Friday sessions. 6am, 7am, 930am, 1230pm & 530pm. For anyone who has been to RISE will understand that 1 session a week is probably enough!!
This will be followed by the Deadly Dozen World Championships at the start of September which Tim & myself qualified for in London!
The next big event that we want as many people as possible to get involved in will be on 11th September 2026 at THE CLUB, Cheadle Hulme with a “24hr HYROX SIM CHALLENGE” where myself, and as many others as possible will complete as many rolling HYROX simulations (full HYROX solo or doubles) as possible!!
We are currently organising a “TEAM RISE” event for a Sunday morning which would love as many people to get involved in as possible!
My final solo event will be the Ironman 70.3 in Alcudia, Mallorca in May 2027. As I’m writing this I do not even own a bike yet.
